Mamou

As a pre-Lenten celebration, young men dress in home made costumes that honor their Acadian ancestry. They then, after drinking all night, gallop around to the homes of various communityfolk, dance atop their horses until a chicken is released, and prompty dismount to frantically capture it.

Noses are broken, limbs dislocated, chickens harmed in the making of these photographs.
